The John & Betty Douglas Trophy

The Douglas Trophy is awarded to the overall top team at the U.S.A. National Clogging Championship.

The trophy is named for John and Betty Douglas of Alpharetta, Georgia. John and Betty started clogging in 1973. For many years, they co-directed the Georgia Sunshine Cloggers, a national champion 8-couple precision team.

John was a founding member of C.L.O.G. and served as the organization’s first Vice President. For more than 20 years, John served as President and Chairman of the Board. He attained the CCI designation and completed NCHC judge certification. Under his leadership, C.L.O.G. grew from a state organization in Georgia to the nation’s largest and premier clogging leadership organization with annual conventions hosting in excess of 6,000 participants.

Clogging became a family passion with both of their sons who won individual championships. In addition, both sons danced on and directed several other nationally known teams.

The C.L.O.G. Board of Directors and Executive Directors extends a special thank you to John & Betty Douglas for their support and contributions to our organization and clogging community.
